Yesterday, I ended up walking a total of 7 blocks. Slow as a turtle mind you but I walked! And at the end of the day yesterday, my glucose sugars were still in the 100s and not 500s like they used to be.
I felt I slept well but I did get up a few times to cough and catch my breathing even though I do wear a CPAP. My belly is still swollen and full of gas. The pain every where else in my body is still there too…but I’m not in my regular bed, I’m at my mom’s recovering and the bed I’m sleeping in is hard. I’m used to a pillow-top bed.
Today we went to Tyndall to drop some stuff off then we went to my apartment to get a few things. And by the time I got back into the car — I was exhausted!!! The incisions seem really tender and sore today too. But what can I expect after two days post-op right???
My breakfast consisted of a small glass of diet grape juice and 8 ounces of cream of mushroom soup. For lunch, I’m going to make a banana, blueberry, yogurt smoothie (8 ounces) with 1% milk. And nap as much as possible today. I did find out that I have to return on Thursday, July 5th to see Dr. Haley and meet up again with my dietitian Megan. It’s just a week and a day post-op, not the usual two weeks but Dr. Haley is going on vacation …otherwise his next appointment wouldn’t be until July 20th and they felt that was too late to come.
By the way, a tip I’ve discovered on my own … drinking small amounts of prune juice is 10 times better than the other alternatives!!! And it seems to be helping with all the built-up gas still in my body from the surgery.
