|Tasty and it works!!!|
[Note from Editor: This post is blunt and to the point about constipation.]
Because us lap banders can no longer swallow anything really over the size of a baby aspirin, I didn’t like the idea of swallowing those gelled stool softeners or laxatives either. I do not want ANYTHING to get stuck. Ever. So my crafty mom suggested prune juice.
I introduced “PJ” a couple of days ago and like magic, it worked wonders. Last night, I decided to have a very small swig of it in a Dixie cup and although the taste of it is very sweet, it didn’t digest well. So this morning, when I made myself a blueberry smoothie, I decided to put in an ounce of prune juice in the blender.
Now to you regular sized folks out there, an ounce is funny. But to us lap banders, an ounce is a lot. And considering my smoothie consisted of one cup 1% milk, a few blueberries, a smidgen of Greek yogurt and a scoop of my vanilla protein powder (and two ice cubes) … the ounce of PJ was enough. I made the smoothie about 25 minutes ago, and I’m still nursing it down. I cannot even detect the prune juice either. We shall see how well it “kicks” in.
